University of Saskatchewan Huskie men's volleyball left sides Paul Thomson and Colin Fraser were honoured by the Canada West Friday by being selected as conference all-stars.
Thomson, a fifth-year Assiniboia native, was named a Canada West Second Team All-Star, while Fraser, a Saskatoon native, was named to the Canada West All-Rookie Team. It is the first selection to an all-star team for Thomson. Huskie Athletics has had 79 all-stars in men's volleyball history.
A Computer Science major, Thomson finished the Canada West season fifth in total attacks with 320 in his 24 matches in 2014-15. Leading the Huskies' offence, Thomson averaged 3.48 kills per set and tallied 128 digs. He also recorded 60 blocks and 25 service aces.
Rookie Fraser, younger brother to two-time Canada West all-star Bryan Fraser, stepped into a starting role early in the season when the Huskies' were riddled with injuries to starting outside hitters. Playing in 19 matches, the Business student recorded 74 kills, 19 blocks and 70 digs.
