Fall Recap: Men's Volleyball

A four match winning streak has helped the University of Saskatchewan Huskie men's volleyball team to a 6-6 record at the semester break.

The Huskies knocked off the UBCO Heat and the Trinity Western Spartans in Saskatoon on their four match streak after dropping the opening two matches of the season on the road against the Manitoba Bisons.

Saskatchewan has enjoyed hosting Canada West opponents at the PAC this season, posting a 5-1 record on home court.

A visit to Edmonton, Alta. abruptly halted the Huskies' momentum as the Golden Bears swept Saskatchewan 3-0 on Friday and Saturday night to drop the Huskies back to .500 at 4-4.

Facing another tough opponent on the road, the Huskies dropped their third straight with a 3-0 loss to the Calgary Dinos before ending the skid a night later with a 3-0 win.

In the final weekend of the first semester the Saskatchewan bounced back from a 3-0 loss to the Winnipeg Wesmen, its first home loss of the season, to win 3-2 on Saturday night to hit the break at 6-6. The Huskies currently hold the seventh and final playoff spot in the Canada West standings.

A Look Ahead...

The Huskies look to leave their road woes behind in 2016. Saskatchewan opens the new year with trips to take on the Brandon Bobcats and Thompson Rivers WolfPack. Both teams trail the Huskies by just four points in the conference standings.

Saskatchewan will look to continue its winning ways at the PAC when they play their first matches of 2016 at home against the Mount Royal Cougars. The Huskies will then play host to the last place MacEwan Griffins.

The only remaining matches against a team higher than Saskatchewan in the standings come February 12-13 at UBC. The green and white host the Regina Cougars in the battle of Saskatchewan to close the season on February 19-20.
