ADOLPH BECOMES CIS ALL-TIME WINS LEADER WITH OT VICTORY

University of Saskatchewan men's hockey head coach Dave Adolph became the CIS all-time conference wins leader with a 4-3 double overtime Huskie win over the UBC Thunderbirds Friday night in Vancouver. 

Alternate captain Craig McCallum scored at 3:24 into the second overtime for his second goal fo the game to solidify the Huskies' comeback win.

Adolph now sets the CIS and Canada West record at 378 wins surpassing legendary Alberta bench boss Clare Drake, who won 377 conference games. Adolph also holds the record for most games coached in the CIS at 722. 

"There's only one Clare Drake," added Adolph. "In my mind, he's responsible for the success of CIS men and women's hockey. I've been fortunate to have coached for a long time and although records are meant to be broken, Clare Drake remains in a league of his own."

With the win, the Huskies improve to 10-12-1 and hold on to the final playoff spot in the standings. UBC drops to 10-9-4. 

UBC led 3-0 entering the third period before the Huskies stormed back scoring three goals in six minutes to tie the game.

T-Bird Nick Buonassisi scored the first of the game with just one second left in the first period. Luke Lockhard scored the UBC second goal at 12:53 in the second and David Robinson added the third goal at 6:51 in the third.

McCallum scored his first of the game on the power play at 8:46, just 33 seconds before Jesse Ross pulled the Huskies within one, scoring at 9:19. Connor Cox notched the game at three at 14:33 to force overtime.

Saskatchewan netminder Ryan Holfeld made 30 saves in the game, while Eric Williams stopped 22 in the loss at the other end of the ice for the T-Birds.
