Weaver, Harold (Bud)

Harold (Bud) Weaver, a graduate of Bedford Road Collegiate, enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan (B.A., 1938) in 1935.

Harold played halfback and fullback on the Huskies football team for four years and was twice named to the intervarsity all-star team.

He went on to play for the Calgary Broncs, a forerunner of the Calgary Stampeders in the CFL.

As well as competing in football, Harold coached the women's hockey team for three seasons and served on the Men's Athletic Board.

Harold was killed in action during the Second World War. To honour his memory, the Huskies retired his jersey number 14. The Saskatchewan High School Athletic Assocation presents the Bud Weaver Trophy to the Provincial high school football champion.
