Les McFarlane, a graduate of Evan Hardy Collegiate in Saskatoon, enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan (B.Comm, 1978) in 1974.
After playing one season with the Saskatoon Hilltops, Les was a member of the Huskies football team for four years. He was selected a Canada West conference all-star at defensive back all four seasons.
In 1978, he was named a Canadian Interuniversity Athletic Union All-Canadian and went on to play in the Can-Am Bowl in Tampa, Florida, featuring all-stars from Canada and the U.S.
Les held team recors for most interceptions in a game (four) and in a season (10).
He was an assistant coach with the Huskies in 1987.
