James McCartan, a graduate of Rosetown High School, enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan (B.E., 1951) in 1946.
He competed in basketball, football and track & field with the Huskies.
James was a member of the Men's Athletic Board and coached women's basketball at the intramural level.
He received the prestigious Rusty McDonald Cup in 1950-51 for leadership, sportsmanship, athletics and academics among male athletes.
