With a late second half goal, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies advanced to the Canada West Select Six semifinal after a 1-0 win over the University of Victoria Vikes Thursday night in Langley, B.C.

Fourth-year midfielder Rebecca Weckworth scored the lone goal in the match in the 75th minute.

The Huskies will face the Select Six-host Trinity Western University Spartans on Saturday in the semifinal.

Saskatchewan controlled the pace and possession for the majority of the match and put pressure on the Vikes. An Erica Hindmarsh free kick bounced around in front of the net before Weckworth could get a foot on it. She sent it into the bottom right corner of the net.

Victoria's best chance of the match came in the 85th minute on a free kick. Victoria Douglas' ball bounced off the cross bar and just over the net.

Meaghan Storie finished the match making three saves for the Vikes, while Kyleigh Vause stopped three shots for Saskatchewan at the other end of the pitch.

Kickoff for Saturday's semifinal match is slated for 2 p.m. (Saskatchewan time) and can be viewed on canadawest.tv
