Women's hockey nips Alberta Pandas in OT

The University of Saskatchewan Huskie women's hockey team opened their home schedule in thrilling fashion with a 2-1 double overtime win over the University of Alberta Pandas Friday night at Rutherford Rink.

Leah Bohlken scored the overtime goal on the power play at 3:28, bringing the Huskies' record to 2-1. Bohlken would end the game with a goal and an assist. The Huskies gave the Alberta Pandas their first loss of the season, bringing their record to 2-1.

In the first period, the Huskies pressed the Pandas, leading in shots nine to three, however, Panda's goalie Lindsey Post would manage to keep the period scoreless.

Huskies' Lauren Zary opened the score 1-0 in the second period, following a scramble around the net at 13:45 on the power play.

Early in the third, the Pandas would tie it up on with a shorthanded goal from Sasha Lutz at 6:59. Cassidy Hendricks would keep the Huskies in for overtime through three intense power play kills.

Hendricks would end the game with 26 saves, while Post made 24 stops at the other end of the ice.

The Huskies and Pandas play again Saturday night in Rutherford Rink at 7 p.m.
