With just six games remaining in the 2012-13 schedule, the University of Saskatchewan Huskie basketball squad will look to stay consistent down the stretch.
Hoping to help lockdown playoff spots, the Huskies will host the University of Winnipeg Wesmen Friday and Saturday at the PAC.
The Huskies have hit their stride and will look to move even closer to locking up third spot in the Prairie Division Canada West standings in the weekend series against the Wesmen.
Winners of five straight and seven of their last eight, the Huskies sit in third place in the standings with a 10-6 record. Saskatchewan has just lost one game in 2013. The Winnipeg Wesmen enter the weekend at 5-12 and on a six game losing skid.
Leading the way for the Huskies is Canada West scoring leader Dalyce Emmerson. Emmerson is averaging 18.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. Fourth-year guard Kiera Lyons continues her solid offensive play averaging 15.6 points per game on the season. Kelsey Trulsrud leads the team on the glass, averaging 9 rebounds per game.
Yael Kaplan and Lauren Anderson have led the Wesmen through 17 games this season. Kaplan leads the team with 11.1 points per game, while Anderson adds another 10.2. Stephanie Kleysen has been consistent on the boards with 7.7 rebounds a night.
The Huskies are 7-9 against the Wesmen since 1999.
The women will tip off at 6:15 p.m. Friday and Saturday, while the men will play at 8 p.m. in the tilts. All four games will be webcast on www.canadawest.tv.
