The University of Saskatchewan Huskie volleyball teams will look for wins against provincial rival the University of Regina Cougars in a home-and-home series.
The Huskies host the Cougars Thursday at the PAC, before travelling to Regina Saturday for the second match of the weekend series.
Entering the weekend series with identical 3-15 records, the Huskies and Cougars will look to continue to grow as teams.
Captain and fourth-year outside hitter Candace Hueser continues to lead the squad in 2013. Hueser, who battled injury in the first half, has recorded 118 kills, 47 digs and 17 blocks. Second-year middle blocker Kayla Tycholiz leads the Huskies’ in offence with 130 kills, 12 service aces and 34 blocks. Carmen Dubnick and Anne Hanbidge have also chipped in with 64 and 65 kills respectively.
The Cougars spread offence around with four players with 100 or more kills on the season. Desiree Ates leads the way with 199 on the season, while Michelle Sweeting has tallied another 165. Tori Glynn adds 119 and Chelsea Ziolkowski 104. Megan Semeniuk leads the Cougars with 140 digs.
Since 1996, the Huskies are 10-14 in conference play against the Cougars.
