BRANDON SWEEPS HUSKIES2013-01-26
Holding off a University of Saskatchewan rally, the Brandon University Bobcats completed a sweep of the Huskies with a 3-1 (25-21, 25-16, 23-25, 25-21) victory Saturday night at the PAC in Saskatoon.
Brandon took a 2-0 lead in the match after 25-21 and 25-16 wins in the first two sets, but Saskatchewan battled point-for-point in the third to steal a 25-23 win. In the fourth set, the Huskies had a 11-9 lead, but four straight points by the Bobcats put them back in control. Although Saskatchewan kept the set tight pulling within one four times, Brandon closed out the match 25-21.

With the win, Brandon improves to 8-10, while the Huskies fall to 3-15. A night earlier, the Bobcats won 3-0 (26-24, 25-13, 27-25). The sweep keeps the Bobcats playoff push alive.
Victoria Dakin and Shanlee McLennan led the Bobcats to the win with 14 and 13 kills respectively. Dakin also added 12 digs in the game, while Kendra Bommersbach had 10.
Candace Hueser led the Huskies in the match tallying 13 kills, followed by Kayla Tycholiz with nine. Anne Hanbidge recorded a match-high 18 digs, while Haley Williams added 14.
The Huskies face provincial rival the Regina Cougars in a home-and-home series next week, while Brandon returns home to host the UBC Thunderbirds.
