HUSKIES HOST PERENNIAL TOUGH BRANDON2013-01-23

The University of Saskatchewan Huskie women's volleyball teams will host another perennial tough team in a weekend series at the PAC.

The Huskies host the Brandon University Bobcats Friday and Saturday.
 
After completing their first sweep since 2009-10, the Huskies had a rough road trip being swept by the Winnipeg Wesmen.
 
The Huskies enter the weekend with a 3-13 record, while Brandon sits at 6-10. The Bobcats have won just twice since November 9.
 
Captain and fourth-year outside hitter Candace Hueser continues to lead the squad in 2013. Hueser, who battled injury in the first half, has recorded 89 kills, 40 digs and 12 blocks in 11 starts. Second-year middle blocker Kayla Tycholiz leads the Huskies’ in offence with 115 kills, 11 service aces and 28 blocks. Carmen Dubnick and Anne Hanbidge have also chipped in with 56 kills each.
 
Shanlee McLennan and Victoria Dakin have provided the bulk of the offence for the Bobcats in 2012-13. Dakin leads the team with 161 kills starting all 16 matches. She adds 14 service aces, 100 digs and 27 blocks. McLennan has recorded 153 kills, 37 aces and 152 digs.
 
Since 2005-06, the Huskies are 4-6 in conference play against the Bobcats.

Match time for the women is set for 6:15 p.m., while the men will play at 8 p.m. Friday's matches will be webcast at www.canadawest.tv.
