GILBERT NAMED SECOND TEAM ALL-CANADIAN2012-02-27

University of Saskatchewan Huskie men’s volleyball setter Chris Gilbert was honoured by the CIS Wednesday night by being named an all-canadian.

Gilbert, a fifth-year Lethbridge, Alta., native, was named a CIS Second Team All-Canadian. It is his first selection to an All-Canadian team and the first for Saskatchewan men’s volleyball since 2009-10 when Matthew Busse was named a CIS All-Rookie.

Gilbert had a career season in 2012-13. The Arts & Science student led the Canada West in assists with 855 and 10.43 per set. He also added 40 kills, nine service aces, 211 digs and 25 blocks in the season.

In 2012-13, the Huskies finished third in the Canada West with a 15-7 record. Saskatchewan’s season came to an end in a conference quarter-final loss to the Brandon Bobcats.
