HUSKIE WRESTLING AT HOME FOR LONE TIME2012-11-21
The University of Saskatchewan Huskie wrestling team is happy to be home.
For the only time this season, the Huskies will hit the mat at home in the annual Huskie Open. The meet is Saturday with Huskie wrestlers competing against conference teams from the University of Calgary, University of Regina, University of Winnipeg and University of Alberta. Club teams will also participate in the tournament. More than 100 athletes are expected to compete in the event in the 10 men’s weight classes and eight women’s weight classes.
Although the Huskies have suffered injuries early in the season, Canada West and CIS perennial medalists Natasha Kramble (51-kg), Ryan Myrfield (72-kg) – a two time CIS gold medalist - and Landon Squires (90-kg) will look to have good results on the weekend.
Athletes will hit the mat at 10 a.m. Saturday and are expected to wrap up around 4 p.m. All matches are in the Education Gym.
