Three University of Saskatchewan Huskie football players have been honoured for their seasons by being named Canada West All-Stars Wednesday.
Fifth-year defensive lineman David Rybinski, fourth-year defensive back Braxton Lawrence and third-year receiver Kit Hillis were each given the nod. It is the first all-star selection for all three.
Rybinski tallied 15 tackles and 4.5 sacks for a loss of 32 yards in 2012, while Lawrence, in his first CIS season, recorded 29.5 tackles, two interceptions, four breakups, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
Wide receiver Hillis had an outstanding season for the green and white to lead the Canada West in receiving. The Business student recorded 57 receptions for 797 yards and eight touchdowns in six games. He set a Huskie season benchmark for receptions in a single game.
Winners of the Canada West major awards will be announced at 11 Mountain Time on Thursday.
