The University of Saskatchewan Huskies moved to 3-0 in non-conference action with a 84-69 win over the Acadia University Axemen in Day 1 of action at the annual Graham Shootout Thursday.

In the win, rookie forward Matt Forbes led the team with 23 points, he was followed by guard Duncan Jones with 20 points. Nolan Brudehl led the team with 15 rebounds and Forbes had 10. Jonathan Tull led the Axemen with 21 points, followed by Anthony Ashe with 13 points and Thomas Filigiano with 11 points.

Acadia led after one quarter 20-15 but from there the Huskies took over the game outscoring the Axemen 26-17 in the second quarter. The Huskies then outscored Acadia 43-32 in the second half.

The Huskies shot 42% in the game, while Acadia shot 36%.

Earlier in the evening, the University of Alberta Golden Bears defeated the University of Windsor Lancers 98-93 in overtime.

Daniel Ferguson was impressive in the win scoring 44 points. Three other Golden Bears scored in the double digits including Lyndon Taylor at 14 points, Robert Dewar at 12 points and Sahr Saffa with 11 points. Enrico Deloreto scored a team-high 31 points for the Lancers.

In Day 2 action of the non-conference tournament, Alberta will face off with Acadia, while Windsor will take on the Huskies. Game times are 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the PAC.
