University of Saskatchewan Huskie men's soccer player Josh Northey was named a CIS Second Team All-Canadian Wednesday.
Third-year Northey led the Huskies with four goals and two assists with 37 shots this season. The Saskatoon native made Huskie soccer history as one of two players named to the Canadian men’s soccer Summer Universiade team.
“For Josh to be named an All-Canadian is a testament to his hard work this season,” said Huskie head coach Bryce Chapman. “Josh has continually shown that he is one of the best midfielders in the CIS.”
The Saskatoon native becomes just the fourth All-Canadian in Huskie history and the first 12 seasons. Others to achieve the honour were Gary Entwistle in 1982-83, Kent Kowalski in 1990-91 and Tino Fusco in 1997-98.
Northey moved into sole possession of fourth place with 31 points on the Huskie all-time points list. He has a third-best 14 goals in his career.
