Planned Giving

Planning a gift to the University of Saskatchewan Huskies is one way for donors to ensure that our athletic program continues to grow today and for future generations. It has a real and lasting impact on the student-athletes that receive your support.

Planned giving is the term applied to charitable giving that is coordinated with your financial and estate plan, allowing you to achieve your goals for supporting the University of Saskatchewan Huskies while optimizing your tax and other financial benefits.

The most common types of planned gifts to the University of Saskatchewan Huskies:

BEQUESTS
Bequests are the oldest and simplest type of Planned Gift.   Your will is an excellent opportunity to provide for those programs most dear to you. Consider including a provision for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies in your will.

PROPERTY
A gift of property may be made during your lifetime or through your estate. It may be used to enhance current programs or may be sold and the proceeds used for purposes you designate. 

GIFT OF SHARES / REGISTERED ASSETS
When you make a gift of shares to the University of Saskatchewan Huskies you do not pay capital gains. Yet your charitable tax receipt is for the full value of the shares on the day they are received by the Huskies.

GIFT OF LIFE INSURANCE
A gift of life insurance can enable you to leave a significant legacy to the University of Saskatchewan Huskies at a relatively low annual cost.  When you purchase a new policy or name the University of Saskatchewan Huskies owner and beneficiary of an existing life insurance policy, you will receive a tax receipt for the cash surrender value of the policy as well as tax receipts for the policy premiums you pay each year.
