Steve Kook

Seventh-year head coach Steve Kook was named the first-ever full-time women’s hockey coach at the University of Saskatchewan in August 2008.

In his six seasons with the Huskies he has been behind the bench for 65 wins, 15 more than the Huskies had in the first eight years of the programs existence.

Kook joined the Huskies in 2005-06 as a part-time coach after working as an assistant coach with Donna Raeburn in 2004-05.

He has twice been named Canada West Coach of the Year - 2007-08 and 2009-10 - and became the first ever women's hockey major award winner in 2009-10 when he was handed the CIS Coach of the Year award.

Prior to joining the Huskies, Kook was the head coach of the SAIT Women’s Hockey Program in Calgary from 2002-04. He also spent two years coaching minor hockey’s female division in Calgary and four years doing the same in Saskatoon. He has also coached male hockey at the midget AA ranks.

In 2001, he was co-coach of the gold medal team at the senior women’s championship and in 2005 was the under-18 Team Saskatchewan female general manager. Kook is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor in Commerce and has worked in the financial industry for 16 years. He is an NCCP Advanced Level 1 certified coach.
