Joanne McTaggart
Joanne McTaggart was given the dual role of coaching both the Huskie cross country and track & field teams in 2010. McTaggart joined the Huskie Athletics coaching staff in August 2008 for
track & field. Since that time, she has led the Huskie women’s
track & field program to two straight Canada West championships and
been named Canada West women’s track & field coach of the year each
time. She had been working with the sprinters as an assistant coach with the Huskies since 2006.
As part of the University of Saskatchewan Huskies track and field
alumni, McTaggart is no stranger to the track and field world.
Competing with the Huskies as a sprinter between 1972 and 1976,
McTaggart set a world record for the 300 meter sprint. She then went on
to compete on the Canadian national team from 1972-78 making the
Canadian Olympic team in 1976 and competing in the 100, 200, 400, 4x100
and 4x400 events in Montreal.
